چکیده
Nanoparticle-based therapeutics have been applied in a broad range of clinical and preclinical applications from diagnosis to treatment for cancer. A wide synthetic naturally occurring materials, such as polymers, metal oxides, silicate, liposomes, carbon nanotubes, developed overcome key barriers small molecule therapeutics, including intracellular trafficking, cell/tissue targeting, poor biodistribution, low efficiency. Virus-like particles—engineered non-infectious self-assembling systems based on viral nanostructures—are new approach toward overcoming these limitations, they are protein-based nanomaterial that closely mimics the highly symmetrical polyvalent conformation viruses while lacking genomes. Their innate biocompatibility, biodegradability, monodispersity, mild immunogenicity, safety combined with capacity chemically modify interior exterior surfaces offer scientists customizable tool design engineer multicomponent therapeutic agents. In this review, we discuss how used array cancer treatments, phototherapy, immunotherapy, gene therapy, chemotherapy.

Self-assembled virus-like particles with magnetic cores.
Efficient encapsulation of functionalized spherical nanoparticles by viral protein cages was found to occur even if the nanoparticle is larger than the inner cavity of the native capsid. This result raises the intriguing possibility of reprogramming the self-assembly of viral structural proteins. The iron oxide nanotemplates used in this work are superparamagnetic, with a blocking temperature o...
متن کاملTruncated Hepatitis B virus like nanoparticles: A novel drug delivery platform for cancer therapy
Nowadays, Nano-sized drug delivery systems have been studied extensively for theirpotential in cancer therapy. Various drug nanocarriers are being developed including liposomes, micelles, and Virus like nanoparticles (VLNPs). VLNPs offer many advantages for developing smart drug delivery systems due to their precise and repeated structures and relatively large cargo capacities. Truncated ...
متن کاملCharacterization of self-assembled virus-like particles of rat hepatitis E virus generated by recombinant baculoviruses
Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a causative agent of hepatitis E. Recently, a novel hepatitis E-like virus was isolated from Norway rats in Germany. However, the antigenicity, pathogenicity and epidemiology of this virus are unclear because of the lack of a cell-culture system in which to grow it. In this study, an N-terminally truncated ORF2 protein was expressed in insect Tn5 cells using a recombi...
متن کاملGenerating enveloped virus-like particles with in vitro assembled cores.
Alphaviruses are comprised of a nucleocapsid core surrounded by a lipid membrane containing glycoprotein spikes. Previous work demonstrated that in vitro assembled core-like particles are similar in structure to the nucleocapsid core in the native virus. Here we demonstrate that in vitro assembled core-like particles can be inserted into viral glycoprotein-expressing cells to generate enveloped...
متن کاملSelf-assembled HCV core virus-like particles targeted and inhibited tumor cell migration and invasion
We used a baculovirus expression system to express fusion proteins of HCV core, RGD (Arg-Gly-Asp) peptide, and IFN-α2a fragments in Sf9 cells. Western blotting and electron microscopy demonstrate that HCV core, peptides RGD, and IFN-α2a fusion proteins assemble into 30 to 40 nm nano-particles (virus-like particles, VLPs). Xenograft assays show that VLPs greatly reduced tumor volume and weight w...
